Hi, does anyone else have issues with motion detection after the parameters are set?  I have set them up not to include the roads and still it detects when cars are going by.  Why is this and how do you fix it?  I’m getting up to 200 alerts per day

Do you have a subscription plan for the camera, are you using smart notifications or basic motion detection.

Do you have activity zones implemented to select areas where you want motion detected.

Motion detection is initiated when the infrared PIR sensor detects movement of objects at the front face of the camera. 25ft nominal range.

If the camera is Ac powered then activity zones can be added to select the areas where you would like to have triggered recordings and notifications to occur.

With a camera subscription the activity zones can be maintained on a battery only camera after the Ac power is removed. Readjust the zones when camera is  positioned.

The Smart notification feature (subscription required)  allows you to limit the notifications to the wanted object type. Note: Recordings are still made.

To begin with try pointing the camera down more or position to eliminate the roadway.

Does this happen at night or just during the day? If the latter, it's likely the cars reflecting the sun's IR in a way that causes "detection". Rotating the camera down and/or reducing motion sensitivity in your modes and rules should help a lot.

@Bearsy: And of course the vehicles are often warmer than the ambient air (and large enough that they are detected at further distances than people).

FWIW, I often get vehicle detections at night - particularly from emergency vehicles.  The lights also seem to trigger the camera.

I suggest starting with adjusting the camera to keep the road out of the field of view as much as possible.   Then reduce motion sensitivity (using the detection tool to make sure you don't overdo that).

Activity zones (if you have a subscription) will reduce the recordings - but they won't help battery life, so it's best to take the other measures first, and then add in the zones if needed.
