Hi everyone,

I’m having a persistent problem with my Ultra 2 cameras and the base station VMB5000r6. I cannot add a 4th camera, no matter what I try.

Here’s what happens:

  • Sometimes the camera isn’t detected at all during the pairing process.

  • Other times it’s detected immediately, but then I get an error when trying to assign a name (whether I keep the default name or set a unique one).

  • Occasionally, on my Mac, the camera does appear on the list (shown as its serial number), but clicking on it doesn’t move the setup forward.

During pairing, the camera shows a slowly blinking blue LED. When I try to assign a name, it switches to fast blinking.

What I’ve tried so far:

  • Resetting the base station (holding the RESET button for several seconds).

  • Resetting the camera itself (same method, holding RESET).

  • Tested with two different cameras and two different base stations.

  • Attempted setup both on iOS and on Mac via browser.

Unfortunately, nothing has solved the issue so far.

Has anyone experienced something similar, or is there a known limitation/solution for adding more cameras? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Problem solved: It turned out that simply removing the cameras from the second location was not enough — the entire location had to be deleted, and only then were the cameras released.

Additionally, it was not possible to delete the location from the mobile app. Even though there were no devices left there, the app still required them to be removed. Only through the browser was it possible to delete those locations and then add the cameras to the new location.

Coupla things:

1) Did you actually reset the hub? "Several seconds" doesn't help since you need to hold it until the LED(s) flash amber, typically 15 seconds. If you do that, you also have to remove all devices from your account and add them back as if new.

2) I'd suggest the camera has an issue and would swap at the store.

Thanks for your reply. I reset the devices until the LED was blinking amber, on each of the base stations. I find it hard to believe that two cameras would break in exactly the same way at the same time.

Maybe restate your issue. I read it as not being able to add 1 new camera. WHat is working and what is not?

I have one base station with 4 cameras connected to it. I wanted to add two more, but I’m running into the issues described above. I decided to try with another base station I own, which doesn’t have any cameras connected and was reset to factory settings. The result is the same. The cameras aren’t new, but they were working yesterday at another location of mine.

What bases are you using? The VMB3xxx bases don't support Ultras (or any of the newer cameras since the Pro 2).

When you moved the cameras from the other location did you also remove them from your account so they can be added to the new location?

Vmb 5000, both of them. Cameras  were removed prior to changing location.
I’m giving up, and changing for wired cameras from Ubiquity.
