Does anyone have some tips on changing systems out ? And since the new 4k systems seem to require paying for the service, if I want to view videos in 4k, I thought I might as well have more than 5 cameras and possibly add some of the old cameras to the system at the $3 per camera charge as well. Any tips on anything would help, thanks !

It partly depends on what your old system is and cost differential between buying new cameras singly vs a system. If your old cameras are Pro 2 or older, there's no need for a subscription unless you want to add Smart to them.

I’ve been using a few Arlo’s 1st gen (a1g) for a few years and a month ago upgraded to “arlo ultra 2” (au2)/ VMB5000/ microSDXC.
I like the au2: improved resolution, better night vision, wider field of view, dual motion sensor, cross-triggering au2-1 —> au2-2.
I like that a1g’s connect easily to VMB5000 next to au2’s and a1g motion detector can trigger recording on au2 (cross-triggering).
I like that a1g can record on the local microSDXC in VMB5000.
