Absolutely feed up with Arlo!  I cant even send a simple email with a specific question and get an answer!  My question is simple:

I have 2 Arlo bases, 7 cameras total.  I receive notifications from all of them.  When I go to my library only the older cameras show up and are viewable.  The notifications from the newer ultra 2 cameras that are on a VMB5000r5  base are not viewable.  Why?  I dont want cloud storage.  I have an sd card in the hub, but I am more interested in just viewing what made my camera go off?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Do I really have to have a subscription just to view what made the camera go off?  Thanks for any help!

If you have no subscription, then you need to use direct access to local storage.

There are several limitations:

  • recordings only available in the app, not the browser
  • recordings only  available using the primary account, not friend accounts
  • no thumbnails (including in the notifications), so videos need to be downloaded to view
  • no ability to save snapshots or manual recordings
  • remote access requires router setting changes that some find difficult and which won't work with some internet service providers (for instance, T-mobile or Verizon broadband).

Thanks for the reply!

I have done everything listed in the direct storage article
Here are my questions:
1. So when I get a notification from my older camera.  I go to the library , click on the thumb nail and view the recording.  When I get a notification from the Ultra 2 cameras that are on the VMB5000 hub they do not even show up in the library?  So bottom line....With these newer cameras they are not going to work like I want them to without a subscription?
Both Hubs are on the same network
Do I just need to find an older system and add it?
One other piece of information.  When viewing the library, on the top center of the page it shows CLOUD (I don't have a subscription) If I click on that it pulls down and shows the other hub.  I can click on it and now I can download the video.  How do I get that hub to be with the other hub says cloud?  Just so confusing, lol
I wish all my cameras and hubs were the same.  Thanks!

Yes, you need to select the base.  That should stay that way until you restart the app - though not something I've checked recently.  I do have a subscription, so for me the local recordings are just a backup.

The older cameras came with 7 days of cloud recording, the new ones don't have that.  As I noted above, there are no thumbnails in the notifications w/o a subscription.
