For the past 3 months my camera facing the street with a solar panel has not been charging the camera. Both icons are showing charging and solar hooked up, but it doesn't charge. I tried a new battery and that didn't solve the issue.
Someone said that the panels need direct sunlight, which it doesn't get in the summer months. If this is the case, then why are the icons showing otherwise?

Direct sunlight works the best, allowing the solar panel to produce maximum current. If your panel doesn't get direct sunlight during summer months, I'd suggest moving it, if at all possible. However, even cloudy days can produce power from the panel although at a reduced rate.
It could be a faulty panel but I'd first suggest allowing it to get at least some direct sunlight during the day.
