The Ultra 2 4K image quality is not the best. It is difficult to identify people or see faces when viewing on the app

I have set the cameras to best video and it doesn’t make much difference.

Is there a way to improve the quality that is transmitted to the Arlo Secure app

Hi there,

I’ve noticed the same issue with the Ultra 2 4K as well. Even with the settings on the best video quality, it’s still hard to make out faces clearly on the app.

I’ve tried adjusting the camera placement and checking the internet connection, but it doesn’t seem to help much.

We have had to up our bandwidth to 1g from 500mbps, which costs more. We have no other internet going except maybe ads when playing a game on 2 old smartphones. Had to shut off all but only 2 Ultras and use 2 Pro2 cameras in order to not have our phones drop wifi and to get full timed videos. No tv streaming (which has us again spending more a month on cable), no smart appliances, nothing. Xfinity Gateway is not compatible with Arlo systems since it cannot run 2.4 and other at same time.

If I knew the 4k was going to be so bad and unclear and cost us soooo much more a month in fees to Arlo and internet, I would not have bought this system.

That isn't an Arlo issue. It sounds very much like it's a router setting. Even streaming multiple 4k cameras doesn't consume that much bandwidth. I have 1Gb up and down with no such issue. I do have QoS (Quality of Service) enabled on my router but even without that enabled you shouldn't be having that problem. You may need to work with your ISP.

What model is the gateway?

The Xfinity gateway models I am familiar with all have simultaneous dual band (or simultaneous tri-band if they also have 6 ghz radios).

I do not know model, just that 3 employees at the store said Arlo absolutely will not work with their Gateway system as it does not run simultaneously 2.4 and others. This is all beyond our knowledge of computers and so tired of messing with it. We had to turn off all but 2-Ultra2 cams and go back to 3-Pro2s just to stay online. Dropped our phones so much last month that we went over our 10gb limit. Never had anything over 6gb before. Now have to keep mobile data turned off.

This whole set up just bites as the pixelation is bad, the sensitivity is horrible---should have stayed with the Pro2 system.

You could of course just look at it.  There will be a label that says what the model is.

The Xfinity gateways I am familiar with do offer wifi on all channels.  What many don't do is allow you to create a dedicated 2.4 channel network.  If you take the time to find the gateway model, I will take the time to look up it's datasheet.  Though unfortunately Xfinity often doesn't provide much documentation.

Honestly this sounds more like an Infinity issue than Arlo's

Sorry, but we did not get the Gateway since they said it wouldn't work. Using a Netgear 63 that worked excellent until we added the Ultra2 cams and the 5000 base.

What (if anything) do you have in front of the Netgear router?

"Netgear 63" is not a complete router model.  Can you give the full info on what it is?
