Hi all,

I am wondering if it is normal for one or more of my cameras to be disabled (individual camera turned off) but occasionally making an audible click as the IR turns on/off.  It happens both randomly as well as when I occasionally load the app.

These noises are normal operation. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks

But is it normal to randomly go off for no reason ?

Can you provide more detail regarding the initial concern?

Is the camera disabling on it's own?

It's not disabling on its own.  What Is puzzling is that even when the cameras are disarmed by me they will randomly click throughout the night.  I know the clicking is from the IR turning on and off but it's puzzling why it randomly does it throughout the night and also sometimes when I open the app.

May I ask which troubleshooting steps you have performed so far? I don't want to suggest anything you have previously performed.

I have deleted and resynched the cameras.  I messed around with some of the light settings too.

It is puzzling why the IR will randomly click on or off even if the cameras are disabled.

The camera does still communicate with the base station or Smart Hub, so if there is data that needs to be transferred or firmware updates etc, the camera may boot from sleep mode to provide that data. The IR sensors are mechanical as well so an audible noise may be heard. This occurs on my devices as well once in a while.

I notice that it does it every time that it disconnects from the base  station and reconnects. For some reason it does the same thing that my last one did and every now and then it will disconnect and turn Orange until it reconnects again.

I didn't notice it because the last ones I had were the pro 2 and they did not make the same sound when the IR kicked in

It sounds like the cameras might be loosing connection to your base station or router or you have some wifi interference occurring.

I guess these new cameras just have a loud IR click.

I have the exact same issue. Ultra 2 camera is set to "OFF" from the app, but randomly making clicking sound as if it was triggered during normal operation. It even turned on the LED lamp once. All while camera was set as OFF (app showing "Device Off").

I have 3 of the exact same Ultra 2 cameras. Two of them were set to "OFF"  sitting on the desk and only 1 of them (and that particular one and not the other) would randomly make the clicking sound as if someone just turned it on.

My guess is possibly some type of bug, or someone has hacked my account/ camera.

I have the same problem, but it can't bee a connection issue because only 1 out of the 2 cameras I have set to "OFF" has been making this clicking noise as if someone just turned it on. One time it even activated the LED spotlight. Could this be a security breach?

@ilovedixie Communication still occurs on the backend when the camera is in the Device Off position. Have you tried re-onboarding the camera and continue to monitor to see if this occurs again?
