If you want to access the 4K videos from the app, then you need a smarthub (VMB4540 or VMB5000).  Then you can set up direct access to local storage: https://kb.arlo.com/000062337/What-is-Direct-Storage-Access-and-how-do-I-use-it

There are some limitations you should be aware of:

  • Recordings only accessible in the app (not the browser)
  • Recordings only accessible to the primary account (not friend accounts)
  • No Manual Recordings or Snapshots
  • No thumbnails
  • Remote access requires router setup (either port forwarding or a home VPN), which some find difficult.
