Can someone tell me if the Arlo Ultra 2 4 Camera Kit comes with two base stations? When I select the 4 camera kit on Arlo's website, the image that loads shows 4 cameras and 2 base stations. When I scroll down the page to see "What's in the box" it does not state that base stations are included.

Also, I have 2 existing base stations (VMB4000r3) that came with my Arlo Pro cameras that are nearing end of life. Am I correct in understanding that this model base station (VMB4000r3) can be used with Arlo Ultra 2 cameras?

Thanks!

The ultra series cameras are compatible with the VMB4xxx and VMB5000 Base/hubs.

If it is not stated that the base comes in the box it means it’s not included.

As a guess it shows the bases picture to mean it needs a Base station for the system to work.

Since you already have two Base stations with the arlo pro2 cameras using the 7days free cloud storage. You are only allowed up to 5 unsubscribed cameras per arlo account. If you try creating a new account you will be forced to use the new arlo app UI type that prevents the operation of multiple accounts without a subscription per account if you have the same location.

Using the ultra you will not be allowed to use them in the same account without a multiple camera subscription since only the direct local storage viewing access to app is only with the arlo smarthubs VMB4540 and VMB5000.

It all ends up being a mine field.

I actually have the Arlo Pro series. I think I understand your answer. I was planning on subscribing anyway.  I never had a need to use the USB storage feature my Pro cameras and I don't plan on using the storage feature with Ultra 2 cameras.

So if the 4 camera kit doesn't include the base station (which it sounds like it does not), I should be able to use the two existing VMB4000 hubs that I already own. And I should be able to use my existing Arlo account to subscribe to the Arlo Secure (basic subscription), add the new Ultra 2 cameras and continue to use my old Pro cameras (until Arlo drops support for them)?

Yes, the two Bases should be ok for the additional ultra series cameras.

Just be aware that you are limited to a max of 5 cameras streaming at the same time on each base station which can have up to 15 cameras connected.

If you’re intending using the ultra high 4K resolution you will need a higher subscription plan.

Just to clarify this:

  • In the US, Arlo Secure includes 4K
  • Outside the US, you need Arlo Secure Plus for 4K, and you'll get 2K recordings with Arlo Secure.
