Hi guys,

I'm about to upgrade my Arlo system from a 3 camera Arlo Pro 1-system to a 3 camera Arlo Ultra 2-system.

At the moment, at least in Germany, I cannot find any vendor selling the Smart Hub for the Ultra 2. Neither stand alone nor in a package with 3 cameras.

My questions are:

Can you recommend the switch to the Ultra system?

Does the regular Ultra Smart Hub (VMB5000) also support Ultra 2 cameras?

Thanks in advance!

Yes.  So does the VMB4540.

Are are you hoping to achieve with the upgrade?

One difference is that you will need a subscription for cloud storage with the Ultras.

Guten morgen!

Amazon Deutschland sells smart hubs. But, as explained above, you'll need subscription. Yes, you can use card storage, but Arlo makes it so difficult for you to do that, that you'll probably end up selling on your system in frustration. For example, while access to storage is in the Library in the old GUI, in the new one, which is forced onto you whether you'd like to have it or not, it's buried somewhere in Devices > Hub.

I upgraded from Arlo HD to Arlo Ultra and while there has been an improvement in that cameras now record for as long as a motion lasts, with the problems with the app being very buggy, it wasn't worth that significant amount of money. For a product that costs a lot, I'd expected much better.

I've noticed that Philips/Signify is now selling a new product, which is an indoor/outdoor wireless camera. It does have detection of humans, animals etc, but there is no mention of whether cloud storage is paid or free. With other Hue products like bulbs and motion sensors, this looks like a very attractive option.

Hello!

All that is written is absolutely right, I finished my trial "Premium" subscription of 3months just for testing, as I was initially planned to use the local storage because I don't care about the cloud function. Yes, "initially".

Oh, but the Arlo team does not see it that way because you see, there is a business behind the cloud subscription :

- 1st thing you loose completely the activity zone function, and the detection type function (don't play the fool, these function don't need at all the cloud to make it work, the proof you allow it in AC mode ?!)

- 2nd thing as said, the recorded video are not displayed in "Flow" but in Devices > Hub > Hub (again) > Storage parameter !! And only on mobile, the computer access is not working (anyway nothing is working with Arlo in that way so forget it).

This is so brilliant, the dev team : You are definitely genius, this is done one purpose to piss off their own users ::: BRAVO

I understand now why there are so much Arlo devices in second hand, wait for it, my Arlo hub pack will become one very soon!
