Hi,
I'm unable to view locally stored videorecordings. App crashes everytime.
Tried reinstalling app, formatting microSD card.
All other things work except locally stored videorecordings.
They worked to watch, after press download in app for appr 3 weeks.

I've got a local version of it saved. Let me see if I can find any way to share it that won't get me in trouble

I am currently using Arlo 4 cameras. After updating the Web version of the software, which automatically updated my Android version of the software, I am able to view the recordings by going to Devices-SmartHub-Storage Settings. I assume if you do not have a subscription, you have to go through these steps to view the recordings. I have another question. It seems that you can only view the CURRENT day's recordings and not able to go back in the past to view any recordings you may have. Is this the case?
I have been very frustrated with Arlo's updates over the past couple of years, making it very difficult with anyone who does not have their cloud subscription to use their cameras and software. I originally purchased Arlo cameras because there was a way to save and view recordings WITHOUT a subscription. However, since my purchase, Arlo is making it difficult to use their software without a subscription. So I agree with many of the users, whenever it is time to replace my cameras, there will not be Arlo cameras.

This is what you get when you try to download the old, stable 5.3.3 version of the app from the suggested website. It appears that Arlo submitted a takedown request to stop us from being able to download a version of the app that works. They're sure monitoring these forum posts, but could not care less about their customers. Again, this is a ploy that's illegal under legion consumer protection laws. I can't wait to get started on addressing it.

Arlo has purposefully broken the application for nonsubscribtion customers who purchased their systems and base stations specifically to avoid subscription services. They're forcing nonsubscription customers to download an update to an inferior version of the application that removes previous functionality that made the nonsubscription customers systems usable. You will only be able to reenable this previously existing functionality if you pay for a subscription. They've made the new application intentionally unintuitive and dysfunctional for it's intended use in a purposeful manner because the previous nonsubscription version of the application was too functional for nonsubscription customers. They have figured that if they break the current version of the application for base station customers, force an update to the new "Feed" version of the application, make the updated "Feed" version of the application less functional to the point that it no longer serves its intended purpose, that they'll be able to force nonsubscription customers into purchasing a subscription (because you've already invested heavily in the cost of the hardware and installation of these systems). To disable the functionality of a system in this manner after customers specifically purchased base stations and products advertised as not requiring a subscription is illegal. You can't remove functionality of a product that was previously advertised as having certain functionality, those representations being detrimentally relied upon by customers in making their purchases, to only remove said functionality after-the-fact and only make it available again with a subscription.

I totally agree. Arlo repeatedly does this exact same thing trying to force non subscription users to go to paid versions. Bunch of as the purpose of a hub with local storage was to avoid the fees in the first place. Arlo is a company that apparently won't learn their lesson until we stop buying their products and force them to listen!

This symptom has been identified and a fix for this is coming soon. The update is in a slow roll out phase at the moment and looks to be completed soon.
Thank you for your patience

Hi @ShayneS , what version number will this upcoming update be? Are you able to share a highlight list of fixes/enhancements this update is achieving? That way,
- users can focus and validate on the fixes that they are waiting for
- users can tell which issues are yet to be fixed that they know they need to wait a bit longer (instead of asking around in this community here)

guys, check this message from @CodyG . Sounds like the latest Android 5.4.2_28786 app has fixed the local recording access-and-crash issue, for "library" users.
From my (selfish) "feed" user perspective, keen to see if any "Feed" user (without subscription) could share their experience with android 5.4.X. I am still keeping my 5.3.3 here, but if things are fine with 5.4.X, I'll just update to the latter.

Yeah, I'll be sticking with 5.3.3 as well until I hear LOTS of happy feedback from others

the "best answer" by @ShayneS above has (if not vaguely) officially confirmed the fix.
The release note for 5.4.2 has NOT been specific regarding the fix for this, though. It just says "Also includes general stability, bug fixes, and performance improvements".
