Hello,
I have a flag next to my garage door, and my Arlo Ultra 2 camera is right above the garage door. I have setup activity zones to try and eliminate the motion of the flag, but it is constantly setting off the motion detection. In some cases it's the shadow, but even when the sun is in a position such that the flags shadow is not in the view of the camera, the motion of the flag is setting off the camera. I've turn down the sensitivity to the point that it requires a person to be about 5' away from the camera to setoff the detection algorithm (way too close).

bakerm5,
If you've adjusted sensitivity down and you're still experiencing false alerts, you may need to adjust the angle of the camera so that the flag is no longer in it's field of view.
For more information on positioning your camera for best performance, take a look here: How do I position my Arlo Ultra camera to detect motion in specific areas?

Hi JamesC,
Thanks for the reply. Question though: what's the point of the activity zones if I cannot use them to block out a specific area? I interpreted the zones to be "only monitor within the shape I draw for motion, nowhere else". Is that not true?

Hi @tserafin ,
Good idea. I bought a 4 pack from Costco, have only installed 2 so far due to this issue. Will swap one out and check.

Let me know how it worked. I got mine at Costco as well and I'm thinking about returning it because of this. Also, I should let you know that the constant notifications and recordings stopped for me randomly 2 days ago. Hence I was thinking that somehow the issue was fixed. But I noticed last night that the spotlight was going off constantly but I didn't get any notifications not there were any recordings.

Hi @tserafin ,
Swapping cameras did not help. I'm going to remove the cameras one of the upcoming weekends and return them I'm afraid. Too bad, because the picture quality is great. Before this I was using Zoneminder with an IP camera, and removed the very same flag. I just wanted higher resolution (and wire free for a few more corners of the house).
