If I what I’ve looked up is correct, the ultra 2 and 5000 base will run on either band.

can I force an ultra 2 camera to use 2.4 instead of 5 for maximum range?

I have one , sometimes 2 that seem to dip under 2 bars once in awhile, I’ve given up on 2k live streams from them but otherwise they seem to work ok, apparently they are just running at the higher Wi-Fi band. This puts them at a disadvantage due to brick obstacles etc I think, even though the signal meter never drops out of the top 50% on the camera positioning test I do believe distance is a problem for them as they are the only ones with 2k streaming issues.

the older system I think was only capable of 2.4, I had the base on one side of the house and every one would always have full strength.

the new system I had to go the extra mile and place the base dead center of the house to even get the back ones to work at all. I would like to just ditch 5 ghz and have these fall back on 2.4 rather than deciding for themselves which is right (if they can even transmit on 2.4 ghz at all)

seems kind of crazy that the thought of buying another base for a typical 1600 sqft single story house (roughly equal in length and width)

The interaction between the Ultra and hub is like your router if you use a single SSID for both router bands. You don't control it - the router does.

You could use a VMB4540 instead of the 5000 because it only supports 2.4GHz.

The router seems to be doing a poor job of this.

in fact the whole connectivity issue and camera feed visual quality issue has started to seriously frustrate me

even a 50% discount, 5 ultra 2 cams, a 5000 base (packaged with 2 of the cameras) 5 extended charger outdoor wires, and accessories such as a high capacity micro sd card and a freaking 2nd outlet in the attic was hugely expensive.

Arlo should take note of this and give us more base control. I can as you say use separate ssid’s on my router and easily control this, and did for years as the nighthawk was absolutely horrible at this, but the Orbi mesh system does it well.

I’ve payed too much freaking money to have to look into buying a 2nd base for a baby sized 3 bedroom house!!!

I know you are just being helpful here and I’m not fussing at you but I’ve just dumped probably 2 grand into replacing the system just to get rid of legacy (but working) cameras in favor of a newer, supposedly my higher quality resolution that I have not seen, 180 degree angle, and the ability to get Arlo branded products like the wiring to hard wire the system so I don’t have to charge.

everything seems to be a headache when two thousand dollars should buy you a care free system.

I don’t want to buy any older parts, I’ve searched Amazon for VMB5000 and gotten results that allow me to choose between pro (177$) and ultra (99$) which I have no idea what the difference is for the vmb5000 and I don’t want to really pay a crap ton more for something that weighs about as much as an 8-track just to solve an issue that shouldn’t exist.

why can me expensive system just not work like described! We’re talking maybe 30ft to the furthest camera at most. My picture quality is only good at live streams when I switch 2k streaming on, the box advertises 4k, the cloud videos have the quality of a hackers dvd rip in the year 2000, ugh!!!

rant over, cheapest way to get a vmb5000 with the micro sd card slot and the ability to switch from cloud to local if needed? I’m just over this, I’m aggravated and felt I wasted a ton of money when I should have bought some cheap Amazon charging wires for the pro 1 system so I could hard wire them, forget camera security and supposed “better quality” and my out of pocket cost would have been 80 bucks. 😞

again not fussing at you at all
