Does the Flood/Spotlight setting on the security light only affect the light pattern or does it also widen or narrow the field of view for motion detection?

Since the lights (and the cameras) use PIR sensors, there's no way to reduce the sensor FOV. That would have to be physically blocked. So, changing the light "size" will have no effect on the sensor.

Hi KachinaShadow,

Could you specify on which setting for the Arlo Security Light you are referring to?

Hello JessicaP

The setting would be the one mentioned in the question...setting the light pattern to be a spotlight (narrow) or a floodlight (wide). The question is does changing the light pattern only affect the light pattern or does it, at the same time, affect the field of view for the motion sensor.
My guess is probably not but thought I'd ask anyway 🤔 😎

Thanks,
Paul
