Is it blinking or solid?
Normally it is solid purple when the bridge is booting up. Blinking purple means that it is connected to your wifi, but can't reach the internet. https://kb.arlo.com/000062037/What-do-the-LEDs-on-my-Arlo-Security-Light-system-mean
Note you don't want it to be solid amber. You want it to be solid blue.

That description doesn't sound like you followed the installation procedure. First you have to connect the bridge to the base and then the lights to the bridge. Maybe detailing the exact steps you've taken would help. Also, read the specific FAQs here in the support area for detailed help in resetting/connecting.
