So I made the BIG mistake of adding an Arlo Essential Gen 2 camera to my existing Arlo Pro 2 camera system of 7 cameras.   This 'forced' me to upgrade to the new Arlo Secure app for Android and I can no longer go back to the original app.   The app is very buggy.

The Arlo Essential Gen 2 is poor quality and design and I'll be returning it.  The camera went offline all the time at random, I couldn't enable or disable it, that function never worked.  The video footage, which was supposed to be better looked WORSE than my existing (old) Arlo Pro 2 cameras.  My automation routines with Smartthings never worked with it.  All this work GREAT with the original Netgear Arlo Pro 2 cameras.

The app brings my cameras offline/online at seemingly random moments.

The UI is not nearly as intuitive as the first application and features can be extremely difficult to find and use.

Its buggy.  You can see it 'glitch' like the matrix on my phone screen.  Reboots and re-installs of/to the phone don't make any difference.

I've had Arlo cameras for years, but I'm near my wits end.   "this" close to going to Blink cameras.  Any suggestions?

The app and new UI is unlikely to be the problem although it does cause issues as you learn how it needs to work. The new camera is likely having signal strength/quality issues which could be due to the increased bandwidth issues required for the resolution but could also be caused by other 2.4GHz wireless devices nearby. If you bring the camera closer to your router does it work properly?

Screenshots or links to sample videos of the Pro 2 and E2 camera views (from the same spot) may be useful to help with the quality issue if not caused by a signal issue.

Any luck?  I am now in the same situation with this horrible rolled out new app that Arlo seemed to not care for the glitches.  I never had any issues out all with all my Arlo camera and recently bought another Arlo Essential 2nd generation and was forced to update to the new app and now my cameras most of the time are offline and when they are sometimes online the new Arlo Essential 2ng generation cemra I never have luck streaming live.  This really stinks big time and I'm not sure what I can do now since I can not go back to the older App.  I hope Arlo realizes this is an app issue.  I have been using Arlo for over 5 years now and now it is useless to have at this point.

Sadly you are wrong, this is becoming an issue with many others.  Please fix this bug.  I can not even access my cameras much anymore with this going offline consistently.   Never had any issues whatsoever with all my cameras with the older app.  I have been using Arlo for over 5 years.  It is not a coincidence that the second I update the app it is not working now.  Please relay this back to the correct IT department to look into this please.

No... they never did fix it.  I've since cancelled my subscription (it was due in 6 weeks) and are now moving to the Google Nest cams.

I also bought a 2nd gen camera and tried to add it to the existing app and cameras I've been using for years.  The upgraded app is leaving me scratching my head.  Simply trying to individually change the modes for each device is not an option anymore. I don't want to arm all my devices together.

Does this upgrade benefit the users or Arlo?
