annoying can’t set back camera specifically like before

• very strange Alro new updates.

for my back camera. I DO want it to record animals and people. but i only want animal notification. I am unable to set up:

animal and people: record
animal: send notification. (no notification for people)

it makes me have to do both animal and people record. animal and people notification.

very annoying. I only want notifications of backyard ferals we feed. i don't want notifications on the weekend every hour my boyfriend smokes cigeratte outside or me sitting on the porch. but i do want to keep recording people videos.

i wish you never changed the app. it was better few months ago.

Smart Notifications are just that - notifications. They are sent only after a recording has been made and don't dictate what to record. You can disable Smart Notifications per camera so that only animals would be selected. That won't disable recordings or any other normal operation.

You are looking in the wrong place - you need to go into the "smart detection" area.

• press the profile icon in the upper left
• press "home" under "Locations and Plans"
• press "Smart Detection"
• then select the camera

No idea why Arlo puts this where they do, it makes more sense to me to have it in the camera settings.

Turning off "people" is supposed to still give you recordings, but they likely won't be labeled as "people".  But some have reported that they also don't get recordings - so make sure you test this.

thank you so much. i hope that works.  so if i remove the “people” setting for back camera, i shouldn’t get that notification anymore?  i will keep an eye on it. just changed it.

  so i went back to this area. and it removed the people from it.  so that means it won’t record videos when it detects people? i need those videos and the videos labeled people. i just don’t want notification on people. just animals.  doesn’t seem like the Smart Detection settings you guided me to will help me with how i want it set

Which is why I emphasized that you should test it.  Have you tried walking in front of the camera, and see if you get a recording?

i did. only recording animals. and notification animals now.  no people recording.  

so strange that it cannot be set up the way I want.  i’ll have to call them one day.

What subscription do you have?

I think Arlo said that they were going to change this so you'd get people recording - though they would be categorized as "motion", not people.  I'm tagging @JamesC in hopes he can clarify that.

i do not have plus or premium. but it is saying my plan is 149.99 a year for my multi cam.  

my plan has never been a problem before with only wanting certain notifications.  until the app changed.

With the Smart Detection set to only Animals for the device, you should still receive the recording in your feed labeled as "Motion" without a push notification.
