When I am home, I have scheduled for ARM HOME, enabling the camera at front door.  All good.

Trouble is: every time when I am leaving home, I need to exit via same front door, thereby triggering the camera --- unnecessarily.

How do I avoid this, without having to manually switching to STANDBY (with front door camera disabled) every time?  Under no subscription.

There is no other way.  Geofencing isn't precise enough.

The home security system would let you do this (there is a delay when you press "Away").  But that is not available in Australia.

not too sure if we are after a geofencing solution --- precise or not.

My situation is leaving by exiting in front of my armed camera.  And I don't want to be reported. The solution may involve senors near door entrance, but I'd love hear some ideas.

Say, I have one solution that incoporates a door sensor that can be read by Google Home Automation. When the door is "open" as reported by sensor (ie I am opening the door leaving), GHA will change ARLO mode to STANDBY.  So that when I am exiting the door, I won't be reported the camera.

Trouble is:

  • sometimes the sensor can be too slow reporting to GHA, and GHA is neither fast to change mode.
  • the cheap sensor I was trying was not reliable.  Sometimes it simple does not report "door open" --- as unreliable as ARLO's geofencing

The home security system would let you do this (there is a delay when you press "Away").  But that is not available in Australia.

This does not fit my situation, I am afraid.  I don't need a delayed mode change.  I need a "predictive" (regarding user next movements) mode change!
