Port forwarding was not working on VMB4540r3 Base Station (USB) Local video not accessible when remote.
It was working fine for well over a year, without issue. Nothing had changed in my setup, base station IP not changed, set static, port forwarding settings all correct but just stopped working one day. Tried everything, changing the port, refreshing the settings, reformatting the local storage so there was only new videos stored.
In the end, I tried installing the Arlo Secure app on another iPhone and from there the port forwarding settings were showing as working and I could see local stored videos remotely. Turns out that there was an issue with the app installed on my iPhone. Fully deleting the app from my iPhone, and removing all information stored in iCloud, then re-installing the Arlo Secure app then worked. I suspect an update from Apple to iOS caused the issue as I have seen some network and connection issues with other apps in the past after iOS updates, resolved normally when you reinstall the app and then re-allow permissions to access networks, location etc.
Hope this helps someone else who was pulling their hair out like me.

thanks @TheHighlander . Good to know this.
for months, I have been assuming this is a bug with iPhone app (vs android app is fine). And now it's just a matter of re-installing to get it resolved. @StephenB ?

The original issue with port forwarding in the iPhone app was resolved last September (app version 5.0.1). @ShayneS posted that on the main port forwarding thread - post 522 here:
Removing/Reinstalling the app sometimes does clear out one-of bugs (as does the hard reset/reinstall process). Definitely a PITA when you have to do that.
