Hello

I would like to use my Arlo cameras without going through my box or arlo.com and using my own services. I see that it is difficult because it is necessary to go through an encrypted outgoing stream to arlo.com and that the communication protocols are non-existent.

This Arlo configuration is not secure because it is enough to remotely cut the outgoing stream to cut off all the cameras on a site!

Isn't there a solution to this problem?

Lionel

The cameras are tied to Arlo's services, so you need to use either the app or my.arlo.com.  There are some services you can get from Alexa, Apple Homekit, or Google Home - but you'd still need the app (and you'd still be using Arlo's servers).

A smarthub with local storage can help with loss of internet.  If you protect it with a UPS, then the cameras and smarthub will continue to function for a while after the power is cut.

There is also the PoE accessory (only available for the outdoor Essential Gen 2 cameras)

That should protect against wifi jamming.  But you would need to keep your internet up (protecting the router and the PoE switch with a UPS).  Note this accessory won't let you connect the camera to a smarthub.

Another path is to get the Go 2 camera, and connect to a mobile data network.

Bonjour,

Cdt.

While there have been bugs with this feature, Arlo has not disabled it.

I disagree, this feature has not worked for several months.

While it might not work for you, it clearly is working now for others (including me).

Perhaps open a new thread so we can try to sort it out.

Maybe this because you have a plan ?

I do have a plan, but there are others here who don't and who are getting recordings.  If they were not, there would be a lot more complaints than there are.

Up to you.  But there definitely are other folks w/o subscriptions who have been (recently) saying that local recordings are working for them.  So the issues from last April/May are resolved for them.

This has gone way off topic, so if you want to pursue troubleshooting your system I suggest opening a new thread.
