Of course there's a new issue. Local storage is not refreshing with new videos (in the Local tab in the Feed section) *unless* you remove the app from memory and reopen it.

Given the continuous problems with the app and other things, isn't this the time for leadership change?

Are you volunteering?  😄

I just tried looking at local recordings on 2 Android devices using the 5.4.0 app with no problems.

Gosh, is there a vacancy already?! I only started talking about it last week.

But thank you for having faith in me and my abilities! 😂

Frankly leadership change followed by open, honest, and swift communication on the issues and how they're going to resolve them, coupled with reversing the subscription increase... They don't get to take more money when the service doesn't work...

If I understand correctly according to James C's update on this forum, the increase is to fund the addition of AI (buzz word alert!) and increased storage in the US only... So I'm funding improvements in other countries now...

Before they closed my ticket, they told me that in the UK it's for a new widget for the phone to replace the fact scheduling and geofencing doesn't work...

So yeah, time for a change of leadership!

I've read somewhere about Arlo going into this new partnership with an AI company. One of the 'benefits' of this new AI keech is that it'll be able to tell you you have flames (as in your house on fire) on your recording. I was so wowed by that that I had to sit down after I read it.

https://www.arlo.com/en-us/arlo-unveils-strategic-partnership-with-origin-ai-to-deliver-advanced-sma... (from this press release, wouldn't you want to know that your cat or dog sat on the sofa at 11:16am, and then they moved onto the armchair... at 11:19am. You could then phone your other half to let them know. Truly fascinating stuff, isn't it (!))

AI is fine, but they should use it to replace themselves in writing a bug free app. That'll be the best use of AI at Arlo. Or maybe they're using ChatGPT already, hence the effect. Hmm... who knows.

On the other hand, since this disastrous launch of the new app, promising exciting new features etc etc, there haven't been any new features. So, let's see what this widget brings; not sure why it needs so much money poured into it from the increase in subscription - from my days as a programmer, widgets are easy to create.

So, expect nothing but issues with this new widget that will keep the Dev Team occupied. I suppose this is the way to keep everyone in their jobs, given that AI is now a threat to computer programmers, too. Bad ones, though.

Dixit.

Back to the topic, though. Local storage in Feed is flakey. Big time. Local storage accessible from the SmartHub tile works ok.

I'm not sure if this is the same issue or not, but it sounds very similar to what happens to me on the browser with this new downgrade.

When I first load the webpage, it works fine. Then after some period of time (I assume .5 hour), when I get an alert and I go to the already-open webpage, nothing is updated. It doesn't show current activity, and doesn't show any new recordings. I can still navigate the site. I can play videos that I can see (but the new ones aren't there). If I wait a longer time, (again, not certain how long), I won't even be able to see the vids in the library. Instead I just see a list of little blue boxes with a white "?" inside.

The only solution to see the new recordings is to refresh the browser and log in again. I'm assuming that I'm being logged out after some period of time (the unacceptable practice they started doing to us a couple of years ago), but there's literally no indication that I'm logged off any more.

BTW, I wouldn't hold your breath on Arlo ever fixing the majority of the issues presented in this forum. I think it'll be another 5 years before we see any improvements (if at all).

I'll likely be selling my house and moving in the next year or so. I'll throw my investment in the trash at that time and never, ever again buy anything Arlo. After all of the stupid moves they've pulled since being spun off from Netgear, I'll never trust them again. (Unless @Edinburgh_lad1  becomes CEO, then we can talk.) 😉

It looks like it's the same issue, but mine is happening in the app. Nothing to display or old videos show. Refreshing doesn't do anything. Sometimes, there isn't even a tab. It's closing the app that fixes things. Also, there are lots of strange dividing lines that separate different events - what are they for and why are they every 10 minutes? 10 minutes is a strange point of reference time-wise; 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 60 minutes, 24 hours make more sense.

Can we please fix that, @BrookeN, as obviously an issue.

(Gosh, I'm getting more popular! 😹😹😹 😉😉😉

I think that's because refreshing on the app doesn't force a reauthentication, but reload on the browser does. I suspect that it's forcing us to reauthenticate in order to see the updated data.

either that or I just like Edinburgh 🦄

I think you are probably correct there... It explains why I don't have local storage for my cameras, yet I regularly have the same issue.

@Edinburgh_lad1 for CEO!

This is bull**bleep**.  The simple reality is that if you don't purchase a subscription for storage then your local storage doesn't work.  I do not need for my video feed to leave my premise.  I do not need cloud storage which adds an additional level of vulnerability by exposing the feed to the internet.

I am dumping Arlo.  All I need is very simply, multiple cameras with high capacity recording resolution and the ability to locally store the videos.  Nothing more.  Don't need AI.  Don't need the cloud and I do not need Arlo trying to sucker me in to spending money that I do not have to waste...
