I keep getting two notifications for each event.  How do I prevent this extra notification?

I am using multiple cameras of different types and recently had to update the UI app due to adding a new gen Essential camera.  My app is on an iPhone 13.

I searched the archives and only found a solution for Android phones that would not be translatable to iPhone iOS.

Any help would be appreciated!

This is often due to your Smart notifications settings. The first notification is usually generic (will simply indicate motion) and arrives quickly based on an event. The second notification for the same event will then arrive shortly after and have a Smart label (Animal, Person, etc.). The delay is to allow the cloud time time to analyze the detection and provide a label. After the second notification comes in, the first will be suppressed. The design is to ensure that notifications arrive quickly without the user having the wait for the labelling process for events that potentially require urgent attention.

Is that how you're experiencing this or are you seeing a different behavior?

Thanks James.

Unfortunately, no.  I am getting at least two rapid notifications for every single camera no matter their capabilities.  I have at least two cameras that don’t have Smart detection.  They get two rapid  notifications each event.

The cameras that are have Smart detection give two rapid notifications and then sometimes a third or a third and fourth notification.

Ive seen other users complain about this issue and it may have to do with something about app upgrades that retain duplicate account info.  The fix required deleting app and account and then creating a new account with key selections to prevent your phone remembering the original account data.  But this was a fix for Android only.

Thanks for responding.  Hope there’s an easy fix.

Are you using timed recordings, or "until motion stops".  If the latter, try timed recordings and see if that makes any difference.

Timed recordings.

Following up again — no I am not getting secondary smart notifications.  Several of my cameras do not have the Smart ID capability.  Also I have all cameras set for timed recordings.

But I still get 2 notifications for every event on every single camera.

is it possible this is due to having another user who is sent notifications?   I hope not.  Anyway it’s very annoying and I’d like to get it to stop.
