Do threads lock super quickly here???

I can't reply to my own thread from less than two weeks ago! It says read only! Why? I'm trying to give an update.

I have seen them lock quickly sometimes.

But I am still seeing replies are possible here:

So weird! It was locked yesterday, with no reply button. I even tried to adjust the reply screen URL to match the message ID, and got an access denied error. 🤔
