Anyone want to buy 4 Arlo cameras?   I'm done with Arlo.    Bait & switch is one thing, but highway robbery is something else.   Just got notice of ANOTHER increase, this time it's a 60% increase.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

I'm outta here.

Providing you with security and peace of mind has never been more important to us. However, there has been an increase in costs in our industry over the last several years. Which means we need to change the pricing we set for our services. This enables us to continue investing in innovative solutions that offer you best-in-class security that is customizable to your needs.

We have no current plans to increase prices further unless market conditions change.
We continually strive to keep our services competitive, maintaining the highest levels of quality, cybersecurity, and privacy. Market conditions will dictate any future price changes, however, we are fully committed to finding ways to bring costs down, without compromising quality.

So let me get this straight: I have spent hundreds of dollars on Arlo products and subscription plans. Now they have raised my monthly fee to an absurd $19.99 a month. $12.99 was acceptable. I could handle that, but for some smart notifications $20 a month on top of all subscription fees and services and the constant increases and gouging it’s enough. The last straw came this week when I was on vacation. I don’t subscribe to any plan now and when my devices are armed I get a notification for my devices every minute. I’ve restarted them, reset them, thought it was a glitch, etc. then I get a banner ad that says “upgrade and reduce unwanted notifications”. What the hell is this? You’re going to annoy me until I pay you more?! ENOUGH. I will now be leaving Arlo for a competitor as soon as possible. I got friends and neighbors to buy your devices because I thought it was a superior product. This is simply ridiculous gouging. You’re saying that your product is useless without a subscription at an exorbitant price. That’s means you have a poor product. It’s extremely disappointing. I have your device to watch my home when I’m away and now I cannot even use it because of the incessant notifications of NOTHING.

agree!

it’s ridiculous!

see my plan price increases below:

2025         $ 215.88

2024          $ 149.99

2023           $ 119.88

if you’re not fully vested into this product, proceed with caution.

If I didn't think this is actually criminal, I would find that hysterical.

Because they're removed custom modes, which I used primarily for decreasing (or on occasion increasing) camera motion and noise sensitivity, I am getting hundreds of recordings per day.  On one day that was slightly windy, I got 699 recordings.  On most days I get 120 - 400 now.  I used to get maybe, at most, 50 due to my ability to adjust.

As I've stated before, I live where the winds can change frequently and the rains can come and go without warning.  When I had the custom modes, I could easily choose any of 10 or so different modes that I had, in order to quickly reduce sensitivity due to rains and wind.  Once the weather calmed down, I can go back to the normal setting.

Now, there's no way that every time the wind picks up or it starts to rain, that I can go into every single camera, one at a time, drill down to the sensitivity settings and decide what levels to put them to.  My previous modes had been built over time to be the best settings to still be safe, yet account for the changing weather scenarios.  All I can do now is to disable the notifications if they're going wild.

This became a safety issue due to removal of custom modes.  There's no way I can look at every single recording as it's happening to determine if someone is trying to break in or steal my car, etc.  I can only review alo of the recordings after the fact (EOD or next day) to determine if anything was going on.  I've honestly wondered if a class action lawsuit would make them restore the functionality.  (No, I'm not threatening that, but something needs to make them actually restore what we all paid for.)  Honestly, if it weren't for the money laid out, I'd already be gone.  I also know that I'll never buy another Arlo product no matter what they do at this point, and I make sure to let anyone else know to steer clear.

I don't believe for a minute that they've been working on this for more than a year now.

With the price increase to me it's no longer worth the money to keep it. I'm only needing to watch 3 entry points if anyone has any suggestions/experience with others.

After this last update and the force to pay for a subscription makes this company subpar. I am leaving this company and selling all of my cameras and base station. I will not be forced to a paid subscription
