About a week ago notifications stopped including a thumbnail of the video in the pushed notification. It has an image but it's just of the arlo humming bird. There's also no bigger image attached with the green square around the detected motion.

The Settings -> Notifications page is way different than it used to be where there were lots of switches to turn things on or off. I had sound off but would turn vibration on occasionally. It's now EITHER silent OR "sound and vibration". I can't have vibration but no sound now?

The app version is 4.0.3_28510, release 12/15/22. The app store says this is the latest version. I KNOW I've had images in notifications since 15th Dec so that should rule out the app. I've had a few android updates recently but I'm sure this image thing stopped working between updates.

Interestingly, my wife's similar phone has 4.0.4_something and the notification page is different again! It is configured to use sound and vibration but she gets no notifications at all. sigh

Arlo... please fix.

OK so I'm learning some terminology here. Notifications with funky stuff like images are called rich notifications.

Anyway, they still don't work for me. I get the notification but the small icon is the arlo humming bird. It used to be a thumbnail of the video, accompanied with a drop down in the notification showing a larger image capture from the video (which can be animated if you switch that on). These images no longer appear.

Things I've tried:

* Uninstalling and re-installing the app. At the time the available app was 4.0.3_28510. This made no difference. A day later there is an update to 4.0.4_28512 (01/19/23) which I've updated to but still no images in push notifications.

* One of the post I saw suggested saving a video which requires you to allow permissions to pictures and videos, did that, nada.

* Power cycled phone, killed and restarted app, nup.

* Tried toggling all the settings in notifications, and Smart Notifications ...-> Animated Preview

* Tried old android 10 phone with v3.8? app, no images. Updated to 4.04, still no images.

Is anyone else having this issue? Or if you're NOT having the issue, your android and app versions?

My main phone is a Samsung Galaxy S20+ with Android 13 and app version 4.0.4_28512 (01/19/23)

Arlo if it's broken, just tell us please.

FWIW, I have a Pixel 6, Android 13, Arlo app 4.0.4 and have 2 notifications show. 1 is with a box around the subject and the other is the animated preview. I've noted no issues recently with these notifications although I don't always pay attention to them and just swipe them away as they pop up.

pjama,

The development team is currently investigating reports of this issue. You can read more reports of this here: https://community.arlo.com/t5/Arlo-Video-Doorbell-Wire-Free/Video-preview-not-available-on-push-noti...

I will provide an update as soon as we have more information to share.

@JamesCthanks for chiming in and stopping me taring my remaining hair our thinking it was just me. This indeed sounds like the same issue that some of the posters are having.

I'll add that I've power cycled one of my ultras and it's made no difference. I have Ultras, an Ultra 2 and a pro on the same account/site and none of them have rich content or preview or what ever you call it.

As mentioned earlier, the problem exists across v3.8, 4.0.3 and 4.0.4 of the android app.

I've also started a new subscription for a pro, pro 2 site for reasons... and no preview/rich content either. The disappointment was palpable.

You should probably merge this with the other thread.

Cheers

P
