Arlo keeps calling me to collect a yearly subscription fee of $200.  I already pay the monthly fee for the Arlo cameras to record movement to the cloud.  Is the yearly $200 fee they are trying to collect a scam?  They tell me it is for software updates.  I can't really get any more information out of them when they call to collect it as to what I'm "paying" for except software updates.  I paid it last year when I initially set up the cameras but to pay it yearly seems like a scam to me since I'm already paying for the monthly service, so I declined this time.  Is it necessary?  Help!  It was the Arlo customer service number that charged me the first time so I know it's from their company.

April 2023, I called Auto support because my cameras were not recording. I was told to contact technical support then I was told by technical support that I don't have my subscription that's why I come right now recording then I was connected to another number and that other number told me that I can go on and get a one-time lifetime subscription for $280 and I don't want to believe it but they gave me the name and the 888 number and I paid them with my credit card and I called them a couple more times and the number was working but now when I reviewed my account apparently I'm still paying Arlo 1299 or 12 something dollars every month we're in fact I've already paid the one time fee. I called Arlo customer service and they said they are not aware of any one time subscription lifetime subscription and I don't understand I am scammed but the the number that was given to me was coming from Arlo it didn't make sense and so I'm out of 280 something dollars and still paying $12 every month for my Arlo service I really don't know what to say so one thing I notice I've been with Arlo for five years and every time I call nobody knows what's going on every time it's a different story every time it's a different policy so I wish they would just get the s*** straightened up just be a good company otherwise go on and go out of business so we can go and get another service somewhere else.

Where did you get the phone number you used for this first contact?  Googling for it almost always leads to a scam support site.
