Does the 7-day cloud loop recording occur continuously or only when my camera is "armed" ?

The Q records as a "motion detect then record" camera unless you purchase the CVR option.

 

The way the Basic ( free ) 7 days storage works; On day #8, day #1 store videos are auto deleted...On Day #9, day #2 is deleted...etc.

 

With the cvr option , the Q will record and store either 14 or 30 days continuous  ( depends on which option you buy )
