Hello I am the family IT person. (Pretty much computer, network, nas)

I bought Arlo Q plus due to the nice review.

1: (my location)Netgear R7000 (latest firmware) (with some custom block service ports/block keyword site)

POE fail

Wifi: Chime then buzz (fail)

(I wasted 2 hours try/reset)

2: (my relative location)Netgear R6200 (default, no block ports) + Homeplug (other brand)

Wifi, POE works.

(only 10 minutes and setup)

Is it a specific router to arlo connection problems?

Maybe it is Wifi channel, name, password?

WPA2-PSK, WPA-psk + WP2-PSK, WPA/WPA2?

Is there any service ports and keyword site I needed to unblock?

I would love to invest another Arlo Q/Arlo Baby.  Before I do that, I would love to solve the connection problems.

(Yes, I would like it to demo and test for my family/shop/clients.)

Ports 80, 123 and 443 to arlo.netgear.com must be open.  Port blocking may well be the issue.

Can't explain PoE issues unless the R7k doesn't support the proper version.  There's a thread here where this is detailed - you'd have to search unless someone jumps in with details or you contact support with the question.  Use of a swicth that supports PoE may be a workaround.

Depending on the firmware in the camera the WiFi SSID and passphrase may need to contain no special characters.  Use of the guest WiFi with bland alphanumeric characters may be needed to get started so the firmware can be updated.  There's an FAQ here with more details on this.  The camera requires WPA2-PSK in any case.
