OK, so you can put an SD card in the Arlo Q Plus, which I'm not complaining about.  I'm just curious as to what the advantages are?

The three advantages are 1) the SD card for local recording backup, 2) the ability to use Ethernet vs. WiFi to connect to your network and 3) the ability to use PoE (power over Ethernet) to power the camera.

Sorry I'm sure if I said I've got a couple already. I'm just to see what would justify me going to the expense of putting SD cards in them.. Of course the internet going down is one. Anymore? Maybe it would be cheaper and better to just buy a plan. Opinions please.

If the Internet is down, the only way to get videos is by using the SD card.  You can get them pretty inexpensively (you don't need huge ones) so cost, especially relative to the camera, is minimal.
