I tried to use the "zoom" feature and it crops the picture. I have no wish to make the picture SMALLER, I want the "zoom" feature to ZOOM, not crop the picture

If you want to use the cameras as a first line of defense they are great. The motion detection feature  will trigger the camera and alert you any time something moves. However, if you want to be able to identify the person who triggered the camera go elsewhere. Due to the panoramic aperture, you can't tell if said person is male or female. Being able to identify them is out of the question. While there is a "zoom" setting it does nothin but crop the picture. I understand that zooming in on any camera will shrink the size of the area in the pic, but it is supposed to make the objects in the pic larger. In short if you really need to zoom in on something you will have to carry the camera closer to the object or get a different camera. I wish I had never purchased the cameras. $700 and they are useless to me.

The cameras are well made and dependable. The construction is top notch
