Whitewashed objects when sun is shining

My Arlo Pro is displaying weird behavior. Non-shiny objects (like grass and trees) are blown out and white washed when the sun is shining. You can see the grass and trees in the top part of the screenshot is all white. Is this a camera issue, or the nature of Arlo?

It's the contrast between brightly lit areas and darker. Pretty much any digital sensor, especially of small size, has trouble with that. There's a slider you can access in live view to adjust brightness but that won't do a thing for contrast.
