I have this same question.

The Arlo Ultra Add-On on Amazon has this in the Q&A:

A: No, Arlo Ultra cameras will only work with the Ultra SmartHub (VMB5000), sold separately.

But the FAQ article clearly says the VMB4000 supports the Ultra.

Which is correct? Can anyone confirm the Ultra works with the VMB4000 Base Station?

Hey ggarnold,

At the time when the Arlo Ultra camera released, it was only compatible with the VMB5000 Ultra SmartHub. But now it works with the VMB4000, VMB4500, VMB4540, and VMB5000 Base Station/SmartHub.
