Why should I insert a USB flash drive in my base unit ?... I have four cameras (mod VMS3230-100NAS) attached to the base unit.

Your original wireless base has 2 USB ports but they were never used for anything so on't bother inserting a drive. The Pro bases support USB drives and are useful for recordings while the Internet connection is down as well as for backup purposes.

For your model.... the usb is NON functional.... so don't bother. ( never used even tho usb installed )

The USB on the Pro/Pro2 bases are for the backup of videos if the cameras are armed and the internet goes down.

( usu the vids go to the cloud AND the backup usb drive )
