I have 5 cameras connected to one base station but want to have a different schedule for one of them.  For example, I’d like 4 of the cameras on all the time and 1 on at night only.  It seems like it should be easy but  I haven’t been able to figure out a way to do this.  Any ideas.

What version of the arlo app UI are you using, do you still have the library or does it show feed?

New Ui,

Older UI,

I have the library.
I have tried adding a separate mode but when I go to Schedule that seems to control the base station and applies to all modes and devices on that base station.  I can’t find a way to have a separate schedule within the same base station.

Create custom modes with only desired cameras having rules in that mode. It sounds like you need to do this multiple times since you want individual cameras having their own specific mode. Once all new modes have been created, you can schedule them individually with specific start and stop times. If you need multiple cameras armed at the same time, you need a custom mode that includes all appropriate cameras, remembering that any camera without a rule is disarmed.

A point to note that at some time in the future you will be migrated to the new user interface (UI) that supports only 3 modes with no ability to add or use custom modes you previously created. You may want to investigate how to merge what you need into a total of 3 modes to ease that migration, whenever it happens. It could be a tough nut to crack...

@Rj12 ,

As an example, I have created custom modes that relate to the time of day, daytime, evening, midnight. The cameras I want active for these periods have been added as camera rules.

I setup the schedule to activate the new modes. Note that a schedule entry is unable to cross midnight so you will need to end the entry at 1159pm and add a new entry from 0000 to the morning to cover the overnight period.

It could have been different if arlo allowed creating custom schedules instead of writing a new app instead.

I’m sorry, this still doesn’t work or I’m doing something wrong.  At the bottom of my app I have 4 options - Devices, Library, Mode, and Settings.

When I click on Mode, it has My Devices, then lists the bridges I have - Light Bridge and Base Station.

I click on Base Station, and it lists the Modes - Armed, Disarmed, Schedule, and Geofencing, and there’s the button to click to ‘Add a Mode’.

I can create a new mode, say for example - Night and Day, add different cameras to each with Rules, such as ‘if motion is detected’ then ‘do the following’ , but there is no option to schedule this only at certain times.
the only way Insee to schedule times is in the Schedule mode mentioned above which applies to all cameras connected to the Base Station regardless of the mode.

Your problem here is conceptual.

It is true that you schedule modes for the base and not individual cameras.  But that does not mean that you have no ability to schedule specific cameras at different times.

Modes for the base never apply to a single camera.  if a camera isn't listed in a mode, then it is disarmed when you activate that mode.  So a mode for the base controls every single camera connected to that base (either arming it in some way, or disarming it).

At any given time period, you want some cameras armed, and other cameras disarmed.  So you need to create a mode for that time period that accomplishes that. The general process is to build out a timeline that shows the total picture of what cameras you want armed (and when).  Then figure out what mode you need at every transistion point.  Once you know what those are, you create the needed modes, and schedule them.  In most cases you only need a couple of modes to do what you want.

Say for instance that you want to enable your outdoor cameras all the time, but your indoor cameras only between 10 pm and 6 am.

So you'd

  • create a "night" mode that has rules for all of your cameras
  • create a "day" mode that only has rules for the outdoor cameras
  • schedule "day" between 6 am and 10 pm
  • schedule night between 10 pm and midnight and also between midnight and 6 am

FWIW, in this example you can just use the built-in armed mode as the "night" mode.

If you have trouble figuring this out for your specific schedule, just post the details of what cameras you want armed (and when) and we can help.

One thing to keep in mind - you are using the older "Library" interface.  There is a newer "Feed" interface, which handles schedules very differently.  At some point in the future, Arlo will probably migrate you to "Feed".  When that happens, you'll need to set up the schedules again.  (Note - you can force the migration to "Feed" if you want, but I don't recommend that you do that).

The mode itself doesn't do anything - you either have to manually select it to be active or you need to use the schedule to start and stop it appropriately. You may want to browse the FAQs here since they offer a wealth of information. Here's one that should help:
