Greetings Mike, and welcome to the Arlo family. Arlo cameras are event based, which means they record on motion triggered events. The default system mode "armed" will record all cameras (when motion is detected) at all times. In your environment, you may see a lot of activitiy and thus end up with quite a lot of recordings. If you are just going to use it for securtity (when the grill is closed), this shouldn't be an issue because it will only record when it detects motion. In a busy environment, it may be recording and sending notifications constantly. If that's what you want, then thats fine, but be aware that this will drain the battery pretty quick and you might want to plug these cameras in if thats the purpose. As for the cloud, your recordings are accessible in the arlo app under the "library" option and also online at the arlo website https://arlo.netgear.com/ You may have up to 5 cameras recording to the cloud for free (those recordings only stay in the cloud for 7 days). With Arlo PRO, you can also connect a USB drive to your base to store those recordings locally so that once they delete from the cloud you have a copy on your usb drive. You could also download them but that may prove time consuming.
