Don't know if this is happening to anyone else, but all of a sudden our pro cameras are making hundreds of recordings of rain, wind and other such things they never did before despite all the settings being exactly as always.

Once again it leads us to suspect sneaky updates that reduce serviceability.

So, we figured we're never going to get any help from arlo and we have to use these bricks until something better comes along and decided to fool around with 'Activity Zones'.  We picked a camera that has suddenly been making some time hundreds of recordings in a single day and created an activity zone that eliminated a row of bushes that we thought perhaps was capable with some small fluttering to suddenly now begin to trigger recordings.

Just as we were about to save the zone, we happened to notice this: " Note: every time motion is detected, the camera will need to send video to the cloud for processing, to determine if motion occurred within the defined zone(s). When the camera is operating on battery power, you may notice your battery level lowering over time, even though you may not have many recordings in the library."

Well, isn't that just swell.

So, if I create a zone to try to eliminate the possibility that even very slight motion from a shrub could suddenly now be triggering recordings in order to conserve battery power----we have to use additional battery power to try to save battery power!

That's one hell of a 'Catch-22' there.

Good old Arlo.

You have to have the cam connected to AC power or a smart subscription that the server determined the zone in battery power. The battery would drain fast if the cam just did it on battery.
