After having my USB cover tab come off, the one that keeps it from detaching fully from the camera and therefor avoids losing it, I had trouble re-insertig it. I looked at some (closed) topics here with no real solution except "try to re-insert and be patient...". I found there is an easy and fast way to fix: on the buttom of the battery cover, just behind the USB connector, there is a rubber section that turns-out is glued in place. Lifting this section just a bit behind the connector port, gives access to the tab-retaining slot directly allowing you to pull the tab in all the way after partially inserting it. use a needle or any needle like tool to catch it and pull it in.
Hope this helps.
