Sharing my experience on port forwarding setup if other users have same plan like me. After End-of-Life Notice on free cloud on old generations of camera models, I bought a  Pro Smart hub VMB4540 replacing old base station VMB4000 which doesn't support remote access to local storage. Ultra Smart hub VMB5000 cost a bit more and need MicroSD chip instead of USB A thumb drive for VMB4540. I have a Actiontec T3200M router plus a fiber modem box. On Router UI\Firewall\Port Forwarding\ , enter your smart hub 's internal IP address and same port number(5 digits) assigned on mobile phone by Arlo APP\Device Settings\Storage Settings\Port Forwarding\. I also locked in local IP on Router UI\Advance Setup\DHCP Reservation. Last but most important, turn off home WIFI connection on mobile phone and use mobile data, the Status is showing AVAILABLE. Bravo. It took me a whole day to work on modem and router in wrong direction. Hope my post will help you if similar issue.

Thanks for sharing - It's clear from other users that many find this difficult.

I will add that there are some internet service providers where this can't be done.  Mobile broadband (T-mobile, etc), Starlink, and any landline service that uses carrier-grade NAT (CGNAT).
