Outdoor mount has small threaded knob

I bought the vma1000b outdoor mount but it has a much smaller threaded locking knob at the top compared to all the images I have seen. Is it a defective item or have the specs been changed? It seems rather flimsy.

The smaller lock knob is a design change..... Seems the larger version had trouble with the USB plug in fitting in place
