I've just bought the camera 2 months ago and the battery is already dead on one of the 2 cameras, the other one is still over 80%. It feels as if it was sent in a defective state, does it make sense?

has this camera had the most views. what i discovered is viewing is what drains the battery more so than anything.

As mentioned...if the camera is used alot the battery will drain faster... be it live viewing or recording. Spec useage is =<5 mins per day.

If your not using the camera heavy, then charge up both cameras and swap their locations to see if the problem follows the camera ( so you can see if it really is the battery and not location )
