Motion detection stopped working. Contacted customer service and license need to be updated?

I own three Arlo pro cameras. I am saw them in April 2021. The motion detection feature on all three cameras stopped working. I did all of the troubleshooting in the support articles. Nothing worked. I called customer service. They told me my firmware license needed to be updated. They then proceeded to tell me that they would charge me either $149 or $249 in order to get my firmware updated. Of course I refused. Charging for firmware updates is highway robbery. I will be trying a new security camera service.
