Tks for more info ...as mentioned above sense levels and placement is important.
You want the camera out of reach but not to high and the flow of people across the field of view if possible.
I had a camera at the door and have to move it away by 8+ft ( Arlo cam , not Pro ) to allow for better capture...peson walking in sets it off and then I get them at the daoor and leaving (face ).
Also sense levels.. must be adjusted more by trail and error to work well without false triggers.
Some as mentioned above, use two sense levels ( add a mode ) in a custom mode call Night Armed with a higher sense level for nighttime.
These adjustments should be slow, a percent or 2 at a time, till it it functions well.

TomMac & others, thank you. It worked after adjusting the sensitivity, followed by reset.
Got a new problem though. Now it is detecting the leaves falling down or move due the wind 😞

I did what Tom said above. I started with 100 sensitivity and each time an unwanted motion alert came in within 30 minutes of a previous unwanted motion alert eg leaves swaying, I turned the sensitivity down by 1. After a while each camera became really well fine tuned for the location and I captured all the things I wanted eg people and vehicles, but not trees moving in the breeze. The second big benefit of this is that the batteries last way longer between charges

Can anyone please provide step by step instructions on how to keep Arlo active with motion detection all night. I have problems with a neighbor stealing from me and vandalizing my property and desperately need proof. I saw someone post about creating a special Night Mode but no indication as to how to do it. I see how to add a custom mode and can edit it by giving it a name and turning on (hopefully) motion detection but how is that different from standard armed mode? And why won't armed mode just stay on with motion detection? Do I have the wrong system? Motion Detection works fine during the day but then nothing at night.
A little help, please and thanks!

I use a night mode. The difference between night and day modes is that each rule's motion detection setting is higher. If I used the motion sensitivity settings for night mode during the day, I would have a lot more false alerts and recordings of vehicles going by. If your normal armed mode allows you to set the sensitivity to 100 and you don't get false alerts during the day, by all means use ARMED mode 24/7.
To enable different modes for different times of the day, you'll have to use the SCHEDULE mode and populate the schedule with your modes. Note that each day runs midnight to midnight so it's something like:
Night mode midnight-6am
Day mode 6am-7pm
Nigth mode 7pm-midnight
And do that for every day of the schedule

Thanks for trying to help, but I am still at a loss.
I re-watched the videos on modes and scheduling.
I am using a laptop, not a phone.
There is no pencil icon.
When I am in edit mode mode, my options are: Motion Detection, Record Video and Push Notification. There is nothing about scheduling and no place to add this as a rule to a custom mode.
When I did run 24/7 armed mode, motion detection was not active and there was no option to make it active.
I realize I'm a novice with this system ... what am I missing?
A little more help,
Please and thanks, again, again.

I would like to think I just figured something out and maybe it has to do with computer software being in a different order than phone software.
When you go to Schedule, you don't just set the times, but you feed your custom modes to the times through the scheduler by clicking add at the top bar inside edit schedule. Wish we could upload screen shots. If this works, I bet it could save others a lot of time.
So, to sum up, first, I had to create a custom mode (motion detection sensitivity and duration of recording) and save that.
Then, I had to go back to Schedule and not only set the times but also Add in the Custom Mode.
Please anyone let me know if this is correct because I'm really tired of people messing with my property and if I could just get some video of their actions I could take it to the police.
BTW, this is a really great support community, even if I don't always understand the how to's : )

Yes, this is correct. Is this process not outlined in the user manual online? If not, they should definitely add it
