I have Arlo Pro something version magnetic outdoor (I think) security cameras. The batteries on them are crap now. I need new cameras to replace the ones I got. Everything Arlo sells now is the screw in mount cameras and not the convenient magnetic ones. I have the magnetic mounts - they still work fine. I just need new cameras (with longer lasting batteries preferably) that have the magnets built into them. What version of the Arlo security cameras have this and can you still purchase them?

Most of the outdoor cameras have magnetic mounts but they're not like the originals - the magnet and metal plate have been switched as to which part has the magnet. That means the old mounts need to be replaced with new ones. You can see what comes in the box by going to Arlo.com and selecting the various cameras to check them out. Scroll down to nearly the bottom and look for What's in the Box (there's also a tag near the top under Add to Cart that jumps you there).

Are you saying I would have to buy a new magnetic mount and that the older round/half circle magnetic mount wouldn't work for one of the newer versions? Does the Essential 2K camera have a magnetic mount?

No, Essentials all use only screw-mounts.
The Pro 3, Pro 4, Pro 5S, and Ultra can use magnetic mounts (assuming you don't have the XL model or a model with the integrated "total security mount". But the Pro 2 magnetic mounts won't work with these cameras, you need the newer ones.

Got ya, thank you, so if I had a Pro 3, 4, or 5S and the older magnetic mount (not this one: Ultra & Pro 3 Magnetic Wall Mounts | Arlo Accessories) would it still mount to the magnetic ball properly? Or must I have this new magnetic mount as well?

No, it will not work. The new cameras won't attach to the old mounts. The old system has the magnet inside the camera, the new system has the magnet inside the mount.
The screw mounts do work with all cameras.

Then what is in that old ball mount? Would they not need to have a magnet in each either way?

the old ball mount is metal.... the magnet is in the camera
the new mounts are plastic with magnet... metal plate in back of camera
