Is it possible to have two modes active at the same time? I want to have some of my cameras active all the time and others active only by geofencing. I don't see a way to do that. It would reqiire certain cameras to be assigned to different modes and both modes being active.

No but you can create custom modes for each specific instance you need with only the appropriate cameras in each mode. Read the FAQ here on creating custom modes. Any camera without a rule is disarmed. Use the schedule to automate switching between the various modes.
