Just to verify, this is issue is occurring on your web browser as well? Which camera are you experiencing the issue with?

Yes, the issue is in the web browser too. It holds the name change until you logout or change to some other screen and then come back to Devices. It reverts back to the original name. Here's what I did. Camera 1 was labeled Outside Garage. Camera 2 was labeled Detached Garage. I swapped the cameras. I was able to change camera 2 from Detached Garage to Outside Garage. But every time I change camera 1 to Detached Garage it goes back to Outside Garage on both Web Browser and Android devices. Apple devices are OK.
I doubt this has anything to do with it but I'll mention it just in case. Both cameras were powered and have the battery in the camera. The Outside Garage (the camera is outside) started giving me a Charging Fault error. I unplugged at the rear of camera as Arlo suggests and reconnected to no avail. I swapped batteries. I changed power chargers. Even the Arlo charger does not remove the fault. I concluded something is wrong with the camera so I swapped them. The camera that won't hold the name is the one with the charging issue.

Have you tried to remove these cameras from Settings > My Devices > Re-Add them? Hopefully we can get them to reboot and accept the name change after the re-add.
