I have a lot of in/out dog activity where I plan to place a camera. If I disable motion detection by schedule during the day, will that greatly reduce battery drain?

Thank you, that's what I was hoping to hear. I think I will spring for a 3 camera system and see how it goes.

YES....you will save battery power.
The Schedule isn't really a mode Think of it as just a timer to turn On/Off an actual MODE like Armed.
When a camera is armed to detect motion, it uses a small amount of power compared to when recording...If the camera is schedule to turn Armed OFF, the camera uses almost no power as it goes into asleep mode
Morse is faster than texting!
