Base station has to stay wired to router?

Am I reading this correctly, from the support section startup guide, that the base station has to stay wired to your router at all times? (I don't see a section where it says otherwise, or how to wirelessly connect to your router)

The base units for Arlo and Arlo Pro are connected to the router by etherent.... they must stay connected to function properly.

The base units can not connect wirelessly ( unless you use a wifi extender with an ethernet port )
