Hi Arlo people.
I’ve recently been converted over to the new interface and turned on the audio detection option for an old arlo pro camera I have in my Garage.

No matter what I do it neither triggers movement or audio for the garage roller door opening. It’s really loud you can’t talk over it but still no recordings when I’ve remote opened/closed it several times in a row.
I’ve tried toggling all the settings for audio and increased the sensitivity for both movement and audio. I’ve moved the camera and swapped out another pro camera.
Im only getting notification for triggers from vehicle and people detections (none for motion even though that’s turned on) and to make it worse if audio detection is on, alI get is a lot of random noise notifications without anything but background noise (even on lowest sensitivity). The cameras are connected to a base station and ive got custom modes set but changing them doesn’t seem to change its behaviour when audio is on. TIA

Can you double check that you have it set up correctly under modes?

Yes. Noise detection was on, the camera was armed. I’ve had to turn audio detection off because it triggers on unknown noises and only if a human walks through, not the very loud roller door opening or closing.

This worked correctly before your account was migrated to "Feed"?  Were you using motion detection + audio detection before?  If not, what were you using?

One thing to check is the motion detection threshold.  That used to be 80, but more recently was changed to 50.  It might have been reduced during migration.

The camera uses a passive infrared (PIR) sensor for motion detection, and it is possible that opening the garage door might not trigger that.  It's also conceivable that the garage door motor is interfering with the camera wifi connection.

Have you tried the motion detection test?  You can first do that while you are walking around in the field of view, and then try again with the garage door.

Also, can you make a manual recording while livestreaming the camera?

thanks for the reply

Wifi connection works fine, it triggers and wifi is not blocked when I open the door, just only once I walk/drive in the garage. The roller door controller is 433mhz not Wifi, so it’s not that either.  I’ve manually triggered and watched/recorded the door open live on the app using the controller so no distortion or blocking of the wifi channel.

I’ve tested the motion and audio detection at several ranges of sensitivity, swapped the garage camera for another camera and it doesn’t trigger for noise of the roller door.

Ive had my system for many years but I’ve not tested audio before for the garage because id turned the microphones off on most of my cameras because wind and rain set off the camera and didn’t really need noise recordings or triggers.

I had turned on noise detection on some of my cameras when the smart detection was added to the app and was getting some random audio detection with no-noise recordings on some cameras and so turned it off again.

Since I was forced to use the feed update recently, the audio alarm/emergency smart detection has become an option. So I’ve turned the audio detection on in the garage camera because i liked the idea of it detecting a fire/car alarm there. It’s only now that I’ve realised its not triggered by the garage door after finding the door open after bumping the controller and no recordings of when that happened.

I will trigger our smoke alarm when I have a chance to empty the house of people and animals, hopefully at least that works.

@o-man2222 are you still seeing the same behavior?

No change, it’s not magically fixed itself
