First, placing any of the cameras outside the house is not possible. We have concrete walls and extreme weather, plus petty theft is common and placing the camera out of reach is not possible with the structure of the house. We have single pane windows, nothing high tech as we are in the caribbean for grad school. The cameras seem to occasionally detect movement, but not consistently.

I am hoping for some input to optimize the settings on the arlo pro cameras to hopefully catch some motion through the window. I have read that the arlo q cameras are able to record through windows, however exchanging or buying the new cameras is not possible as you don't find that sort of thing on St. Kitts. Any help would be appreciated!

Unfortunately, The Arlo Pro will not be able to detect motion through glass. The Arlo Q uses a different type of IR detection than the Arlo Pro.

Actually, the Q uses a pixel-based detection scheme, not IR. IR is blocked by glass so PIR detectors such as those used on the wireless cameras won't work. Since you're leaving the cameras indoors, the Q cameras would be a better choice. Just be sure to turn off Night Vision so the IR illuminators don't reflect in the glass. Use exterior lighting to get the best nighttime videos.
