Was thinking of buying two ceiling mounts to place outside under the eaves. I just realized that the higher i put them the less the motion sensors may work but also the lower i place them the more likely they could be stolen. What's a good distance (mechanicly speaking) to install the cameras to get the most out of the motion detectors, voice, and everything else.

Not under the eves, but out of normal reach... also try and use a screw in type mount for more adjustment.

Some that hav put the camera lower were looking into camera cages to prevent damage/thief

What would be the recommended height so you can still get maximum functionality with the motion detector and voice function?

7 feet high is normally suggested. I was told that about 3 feet from the person is the recommended for speech.
